New Zealand CSE Working Group


David Neilson of the University of Waikato is looking for like-minded members of CSE with whom to set up a New Zealand CSE Working Group.


David teaches in the Labour Studies programme at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, and his research interests are broadly located within the field of Marxist political economy. He recently published in Capital & Class (91), ‘Formal and real subordination and the contemporary proletariat: Re-coupling Marxist class theory and labour process analysis’.

He is currently completing papers on ‘The capitalist mode of production and the neoliberal model of development: Rethinking the Marxist foundations of the French Regulation School’ and on adapting value theory to a general account of employment under capitalism (‘From Marx’s fragments towards a general theory of employment and the surplus population’).
